Know Us Better

Vision

To be the nation’s foremost propagator of poverty eradication as we join the international community in pushing the frontiers of good living and peaceful co-existence with a sense of dignity and improvement of human capital.

Values

We pride ourselves in the four cardinal elements of change. We hold these values in high esteem and our efforts at all angles cut across these cardinal points: People, Progress, Partnership, and Peace

Mission

To promote Self-help, Mutual Support, Wealth Creation, Skills Acquisition so as to Eradicate Poverty as well as Enhance Human Dignity

"Overcoming poverty is not a task of charity. It is an act of justice. Like slavery and apartheid, poverty is not natural. It is man-made and it can be overcome and eradicated by the actions of human beings. "
Nelson Mandela

AMSSI

Advocates for Mutual Support and Self-Sustenance Initiative is a Non-governmental, non-profit civil society organization conceptualized as a fallout of its convener’s (Hon. IBA Gbadamosi) decade of experience in Student Union activism, Workers Union activism, Cooperative/Self-Help Movement, Entrepreneurship, Public Service as well as the disposition of Governments and its Agencies at all levels to the economic and social plight of Nigerians.
Poverty, Human Rights Violation, Insecurity as well as Insensitivity and gross incompetency on the path of our governments have become the order of the day. The need has therefore arisen to conscientize the people so as to:

i. Create a citizen driven economy
ii. Put a stop to the increasing Human Rights violations
iii. Eradicate poverty and solve the problem of insecurity

It is instructive to know that at the dawn of the 21st Century, Nigeria with an estimated population of about 200 million is the country that houses the highest number of the world’s poorest humans while China and India with population of over 1.2 billion each (i.e. more than Six (6) times the population of Nigeria) have fewer poor people compared to Nigeria.
The world is achieving giant strides in poverty eradication while Nigeria and Africa are progressing in the opposite direction. These must stop; we must roll back the scourge of poverty in our country, on our continent.
AMSSI consequently was duly registered to work in consonance with individuals, CSOs, NGOs, Governments and its agencies at all levels, the Private sector and International agencies in promoting Self-Help, Mutual Support, Wealth Creation, Skill Acquisition, so as to Eradicate Poverty and Enhance Human Dignity.
